Panasonic Signal Relays Overview

BeiLuo supplies genuine Panasonic signal relays, the small, sealed relays that switch low-level signals in instrumentation, communications, security and medical equipment. A signal relay must switch a tiny current reliably without distorting it, so the contact material and the thermal electromotive force matter as much as the switching capacity. The Panasonic TQ series is a low-profile relay only about 5 mm high, with a 2 Form C (DPDT) contact arrangement and gold-clad contacts that keep the contact resistance stable over the life of the product. It is available in single-side-stable and latching versions, in through-hole and surface-mount terminals, and with nominal coil voltages from 1.5 V to 48 V, so a designer can match the coil to the available logic supply. The sealed construction allows automatic board cleaning and protects the contacts in a humid or dusty environment, and the low thermal electromotive force, about 5 microvolts for the through-hole version and 2 microvolts for the surface-mount version, makes the relay suitable for precision measurement where a thermal voltage would corrupt the signal. Typical uses include test and measurement, data communication, security systems and medical instruments, and the surface-mount version suits a compact automated assembly. BeiLuo holds mainstream TQ ratings in stock and ships every relay with an import declaration, a certificate of origin and a RoHS file, and our FAE team helps with the coil, contact and terminal selection for the application.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a signal relay used for?

A signal relay switches a low-level signal rather than a large current, so it is used in instrumentation, communications, security and medical equipment where the signal must pass without distortion. The gold-clad contacts and the low thermal electromotive force keep the signal clean.

It is the relay for measuring and communicating, not for driving a load.

How do I choose the coil voltage?

Match the coil to the available logic supply and allow for the pick-up voltage, which is up to 75 percent of the nominal value. In a 5 V transistor-drive circuit, a 4.5 V coil type gives more margin than a 5 V type, because the drive voltage can sag.

Our FAE team can confirm the coil for your drive circuit.

Single-side-stable or latching?

A single-side-stable relay returns to its rest position when the coil is de-energised, while a latching relay keeps its last state with no holding power. Choose latching when the relay must stay set during a power loss or when the coil power budget is tight.

Latching types are available in one-coil and two-coil versions.

Can BeiLuo supply surface-mount relays?

Yes. The TQ series is available with surface-mount terminals in tape-and-reel packing for automatic assembly, as well as through-hole terminals for a conventional board. We stock mainstream versions and can confirm the exact terminal and packing code.
