The TQ2-5V is a Panasonic TQ series signal relay with a 5 V DC coil and a 2 Form C (DPDT) contact arrangement, in a sealed low-profile case only about 5 mm high. It is designed to switch low-level signals in instrumentation, communications and medical equipment, where the signal must pass without distortion, so the contacts are gold clad over silver to keep the contact resistance stable over the life of the product, and the thermal electromotive force is kept low so a thermal voltage does not corrupt a precision measurement. The coil takes about 140 mW at the nominal voltage, and the relay is a single-side-stable type, so it returns to its rest position when the coil is de-energised; latching versions are available in the same series for applications that must hold state without holding power. The contact rating is 2 A at 30 V DC or 0.5 A at 125 V AC for a resistive load, which covers signal and small-load switching, and the sealed construction allows automatic board cleaning and protects the contacts in a humid or dusty environment.
