Overview
A modern vehicle is a 12 V electrical system with dozens of loads, and every one of them is switched by a relay or driven from a smoothed rail. The environment is harsh: vibration, a wide temperature range, humidity and the inrush of lamps and motors all stress the parts. Panasonic automotive relays and capacitors are built for that environment, with sealed bodies that survive vibration and long-life capacitors that tolerate the heat of an engine bay or a dashboard. BeiLuo supplies them with genuine traceability and FAE support.
Automotive Relays
A body-control module switches lamps, small motors, heaters and electronic modules from a low-voltage logic signal. The ACT series is a sealed automotive relay for the 12 V system, with a compact body that survives vibration and contacts sized for a capacitive inrush, and it can switch up to 30 A at 14 V DC. Because it is pin-in-paste compatible, it can be reflow soldered with the rest of the board, which shortens assembly and improves the joint quality on a high-volume line. For the low-level logic, a TQ series signal relay with gold-clad contacts keeps the control signal clean.
Contact and Inrush
The inrush current is the design point that most often trips up a relay choice. A cold lamp filament or an uncharged capacitor draws many times its steady current for a few milliseconds, and a relay that is not rated for that inrush will weld or erode its contacts. The contact material and the contact design decide the inrush capability, and the datasheet inrush figure must be checked against the real load, not just the resistive rating.
Capacitors for the 12 V Rail
A 12 V rail is smoothed by electrolytic capacitors that must tolerate the ripple current of the switching supply and the heat of the enclosure. The Panasonic FR series is a low-impedance, high-ripple part with a long endurance at 105 degrees Celsius, so it fits a compact module where a standard capacitor would run too hot. The design rule is to match the voltage with margin, because a 12 V rail can spike, and to confirm the ripple current at the hot case temperature so the capacitor stays within its rated life.
Working With BeiLuo
Send the load current, the inrush, the coil supply and the rail voltage for a matched recommendation with stock and lead time. Because Panasonic covers the relay and the capacitor from one authorized channel, the whole module can be built from one supplier with one import documentation set.
